Detective Division

Deputy Chief Jerry Staniszewski oversees the Eau Claire Police Department Detective Division which is divided into four primary sections: General Crimes, Financial Crimes, Sensitive Crimes and the Drug Unit. Cases that are referred to the Detective Division are reviewed and prioritized.  Follow-up assignments are made based on the nature of the crime, the presence of potential leads, and the current caseload.  The division supervisors review approximately 14,000 cases each year.  Usually about 1,700 of those cases are assigned to a detective for follow-up investigation.

If you dial the detective division during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) your call will be directed to the appropriate detective or supervisor. If the person is not in, messages can be left on the detective's voice mail for a return call when they are available. In emergencies or during situations that are in progress, the Communications Center should be called by dialing 9-1-1.

After business hours, non-emergency inquiries should be made by calling the Communications Center at 839-4972, or the Patrol Division Shift Commander at 839-4991.
