The Eau Claire Emergency Communications Center was established as a joint venture between the city and the county in 1970. The center handles both emergency and non-emergency calls for service throughout the county of Eau Claire in three areas: police, fire, and rescue. The Eau Claire Emergency Center is staffed 24 hours a day with telecommunicators who are trained in handling a multitude of situations.

The Eau Claire Emergency Center handles dispatching duties for the entire population of Eau Claire County, which includes the City of Eau Claire. The Eau Claire Emergency Center monitors radio traffic and dispatches calls for service for 13 agencies.
