City of Eau Claire Residential Pools

The City of Eau Claire’s Code of Ordinances, Sec. 16.04.230 regulates residential swimming pools and their protective barriers (e.g. fencing). The City defines a residential swimming pool as any receptacle intended for human use and immersion (i.e. placing body parts under water).

The installation of swimming pools does require the application and approval through the City’s Community Development Division. All swimming pools meeting the code’s definition, are required to have barriers (e.g. fencing) in place.
  • For more information about installing a residential swimming pool, contact City Community Development.
