Youth Hockey


  • Age is as of December 31, 2014 - NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Registration deadline for all youth leagues is Wednesday, October 22, 2014!
  • Registration for hockey leagues is NOT open to players who reside within the boundaries of another hockey association (Chippewa Falls, Altoona, Menomonie, etc.)
  • The home site for all clinics, leagues, and instructional programs is Hobbs Municipal Ice Center.
  • Used hockey equipment is available at the following sports stores: Play It Again Sports and Riverside Bike & Skate.
  • Youth Hockey leagues is now a partnership program with Eau Claire Youth Hockey.
  • All squirt players must be registered with USA Hockey for the season before participating in any on-ice practice or games. This is required for all youth hockey players governed by the rules and regulations of USA hockey.
    To register your player, visit the following website at and select "register online". Then follow the directions for Ice Players and Coaches. The cost is $40 for USA Hockey. There may be a separate WAHA fee.
    Please keep your confirmation number as this will be needed to verify registration, and allow your child to participate in on-ice activities.

Hobbs Ice Center - Akervik Rink
ECPR and Eau Claire Youth Hockey are partnering to offer a 1 hour on-ice learning session designed to introduce children and families to the game of hockey. Equipment will be available for use free of charge and participants will receive a complimentary jersey and participation certificate, courtesy of USA Hockey. Local coaches will be available to help with equipment fitting and will also be on the ice conducting fun and educational drills and games. ECPR representatives will be available after the event to answer questions and  help with registration for fall/winter hockey programming.

Youth Hockey

The Mini-Mite Program is a full season (12 weeks) of hockey instruction for all beginning hockey players. The emphasis is on fundamentals and increasing confidence in young skaters.

Full equipment is required. All players will receive a stick and mouth guard, compliments of the Eau Claire Youth Hockey Board, that is theirs to keep!

Players that need a full set of equipment (with the exception of skates) may check a set out for a $25 user fee and a $25 deposit. This equipment is provided by the Eau Claire Youth Hockey Board to help offset the expense of purchasing new equipment for first time hockey players. The $25 deposit check will be voided upon return of equipment in satisfactory condition. This equipment is available to Mini Mite participants only.
