Like the trees that line our city streets, wild birds add to the quality of life in our community. Their beauty, their songs and the fact that they devour harmful insect pests -- make them invaluable neighbors.
"Bird City" is a project sponsored by organizations like The Audubon Society, the Wisconsin Society for Ornithology, and the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin to bring conservation into the hearts and minds of citizens. Wild birds across the continent face enormous stressors -- obstacles like picture windows, wild cats, deforestation, urban sprawl, and climate change. The Bird City program is a way for us all to give something back to the birds that make our lives better.
Eau Claire has now joined the list of dozens of other Wisconsin
communities that officially recognize the importance of birds as a
living component of a healthy community.
