The Sensitive Crimes Unit is primarily responsible for investigating crimes against children such as physical abuse, sexual abuse and child neglect. This unit also investigates crimes against persons with disabilities. One detective sergeant and two detective investigators are assigned to the Sensitive Crimes Unit.

Sensitive Crimes detectives work closely with child protection social workers from the Department of Human Services. These investigators often utilize the Chippewa Valley Child Advocacy Center as a partner in their investigations with children.
